YAY FOR SUMMER MOUNTAIN RIDES..

What a wonderful 4 day weekend ride.  We left bright and early  5:01 a.m.  to be exact  ..the sun was barely rising.. and the moon was still bright as we  pulled out heading to our base in Murphy N.C.

As we approached the highway the moon was fading back and the sun was beginning to crest on the horizon...  time drifted quickly,.. Gadsden, Fort Payne,  Chattanooga, and then... the roads started opening up to sweet wide sweepers.. and the view beyond was greener and and rising as the the mountain ridges became closer and more real.  Finally we were  escaping the  heat of Alabama and finding some cooler temperatures in the high lands of N.C.
They had complained of a heat spell there but they had no idea what hot was... the weather was amazing.... The sun was strong  but just slip into the shade and the cool breeze caressed your face and stole away the warmth of the sun quickly.
We rode the Cherahola Skyway on Thursday before we went into Murphy ... what a rock solid ride.. the road provided us with some wide open sweepers and tight twisties..  the view was spectacular.. rolling hills and mountain ridges... filled with lush green folage ... so eye catching and pretty... I loved how the scattered clouds would make patterns on the rolling hills.. shading the grounds  from grey blue to deep green to bright green...
On Friday we road up to Highland N.C. and had a wonderful lunch at Madison's Wine Garden.. the ride there and back was amazing...
Not only is the view wonderful.. the waterfalls.. and streams.. but the road once again providing a rider with gentle sweepers and numerous twisties back and forth winding through the mountains edge...
Saturday we did a Rainy Blairsville run late in the day .. the storm was pretty gusty .. so our visit in Blairsville was short...
It is always wonderful to take a different road or discover a new path to an old destination... this trip provided us with one of the best rides in a long long time..
Thank God for beautiful mountains to explore....
Until next time...
keep those wheels down
and enjoy... your miles and miles of joyful smiles...
